JEE Mains 2020 Admission

The JEE or Joint Entrance examination is a national level examination conducted by NTA. For students aspiring to get enrolled in India’s best IITs, NITs and CFITs, qualifying JEE is like a dream come true.

The JEE examination is conducted into two phases, JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. And, those who qualify JEE Mains are given the privilege to participate in JEE Advanced.

From the year 2019, the JEE is conducted twice a year, in the months of January and April. Previously conducted by CBSE, the JEE examination was handed over to the National Test Examination last year. After which, a slight altercation in rules and eligibility criteria has been made.

JEE Main 2020 Eligibility criteria 

To participate in the upcoming JEE Mains exam, held in January 2020, students must fulfill a certain standard. A JEE aspirant should have qualified or about to qualify 10+2 from any recognized board with five compulsory subjects. These subjects include Mathematics, Physics, with chemistry, Biology or any other vocational subjects.

For General or OBC category, the minimum qualification marks required in 75% in the board's examination or 80%+ in any other recognized board. As for the candidates belonging to SC/ST must have a minimum score of 65%. Candidates with a diploma can also apply for JEE Mains, but only for IIT colleges.

After the recent changes by NTA, there are no age limits but any candidate can only apply for three consecutive years.

Syllabus/Exam Pattern

The syllabus of JEE examination is strictly based on 11th  and 12th  standard, however, the questions are lengthy, stakes are high and time is a major factor. The JEE Mains examination is computer-based and is conducted online.  

The JEE Mains exam will have two papers,

 -Paper-I for B.E/ B.Tech colleges consisting 75 MCQ type Questions with weightage of 300 marks.

-Paper-II and III for B.Arch / B.Plan consisting of 100 subjective and drawing questions with a weightage of 400 marks.

The amount of time given in both examination is 3-hours but for PwD candidates, it will be 4-hours. According to NTA, candidate Ranking in the Top 2,24,000 will be eligible for JEE Advanced.    Given the fact that about 9.35 lakh students appeared in JEE Mains 2019, only 24% will make it to JEE Advance i.e 1 out of 5.

The chances of success might be is slim but it is not impossible. Always remember “Hard work betrays none while dream betrays many”.

Participation/Other Details

To participate in JEE Mains 2020, you must fill the application form, which has been released online in between 07 February 2020. The last date of submission will be 06 March 2020. Other procedures like image/fee submission, application correction, etc. will be done in October. Candidates can expect their admit cards on 20 March 2020 with the exam being held on 05 - 11 April 2020.

As for JEE the Mains examination in April 2020, except the same as January with forms released in February 2020 and the Admit card in the last of March 2020.
